Day 2 in Guatemala City
We got an early start this morning, eating a breakfast of toast, eggs, and pineapple, before heading off to the national gym. There, we hosted a bball skills clinic for a group of children around the age of seven. Next, we moved to an outdoor court and worked with some junior high aged boys and put them through several drills. Today was not the best day to have a limited amount of hair because the sun was glaring and sunscreen was forgotten, but Clint managed to form a turban with an extra t-shirt to guard his scalp from the sun. We were able to share the Gospel with both of these groups and distribute bracelets that tell about salvation. Despite Mrs. Cindy kicking one poor sweet boy in the face with a ball, they were very receptive. It was now time for lunch at a local church, Iglesia Del Monte. After eating, we had some time to kill before painting an upstairs children’s Sunday School room, so we took part in some exciting games. We played the thrilling game of Signs, followed by the sausage game, the 1-2-3 game, and ninja. We then moved upstairs to paint, and when we had finished, the church members said that we could come back next year and paint some more! They were very gracious in serving us lunch and then saying they had been blessed by us :) As it was time to leave, and hence go outside and get into our van, a monsoon happened upon us, which made for an intense ride home. We came home to a wonderful meal of spaghetti, followed by ice cream and wafers for dessert. It was a dinner filled with endless facts about Coach Hatch and Clint’s personal life aka how they got married and such. No kissing on the first date!! We finished off the night with a few rounds of Taboo and Catchphrase. Fun fact: Coach Hatch looks crazy wicked with cornrows, she really keeps things fresh.
Holla
